Thermag VIII

International Conference on Caloric Cooling

You are hereby cordially invited to attend Thermag VIII - International Conference on Caloric Cooling, which will be held in Darmstadt, Germany on 16.-20. September 2018. The conference provides a platform for scientists and engineers from all over the world working in the field of caloric materials and devices to get together and discuss their research and ideas.

The scope of the conference is extended beyond the magnetocaloric focus of former Thermag conferences and includes various forms of caloric cooling approaches as well as thermomagnetic energy conversion. By this, an enhanced exchange of knowledge between researchers working on the related forms of caloric materials and devices is promoted.

The topics include:

  • Magnetocaloric materials
  • Elastocaloric materials
  • Barocaloric materials
  • Electrocaloric materials
  • Caloric devices for room temperature cooling
  • Caloric applications at low temperatures
  • Thermomagnetic energy conversion
  • Resource basis and recycling of caloric materials
  • Standardisation and terminology of caloric materials

The workshop will be chaired by Prof. Oliver Gutfleisch, Technische Universität Darmstadt and Dr. Alexander Barcza, Vacuumschmelze and is organised in cooperation with the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR).

The German priority program on ferroic cooling contributes to ThermagVIII with its final symposium.
